Here’s Sundance Now’s Full Lineup for April 2021

Sundance Now

Sundance Now is getting a library refresh for spring with a new slate of premieres and award-winning titles. Highlights include the premieres of the Sundance Now Exclusive dark Kiwi crime drama The Bad Seed and Swedish eco-thriller Thin Ice, plus the final two episodes of the sporty and glamorous Aussie football wives drama Playing For Keeps, Season 2.

Thursday, April 1st


The classic Oscar Award-winning Coen brothers’ film about Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy, Shameless), a desperately in debt car salesman, who hires two thugs to kidnap his own wife to collect the ransom. The inept scheme falls apart due to his and his henchmen’s bungling and the persistent police work of the quite pregnant Marge Gunderson (Frances McDormand, Nomadland, Moonrise Kingdom). Also stars Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire, The Big Lebowski), Peter Stormae (American Gods, Armageddon), and Harve Presnell (Saving Private Ryan).

Pan Am

An amusing drama series centered around spontaneity and passion with a 1960s aesthetic. It focuses on the experiences of a witty, glamorous group of stewardesses. Starring Christina Ricci (The Addams Family, Speed Racer), Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad), Karine Vanasse (X-Men: Days of Future Past), and Kelli Garner (Godzilla: King of the Monsters).

Playing for Keeps, Season 2, Episode 7

Kath tells Tahlia and Connor that Liam knows about the affair. It was Liam who stole Connor’s phone, released the pictures of Tahlia and is now blackmailing Kath to prevent the club’s formal investigation into him. Tahlia wants swift (and preferably painful) punishment, but they all agree that the best course of action is to call his bluff. Kath works hard to control the situation but has to tell Brian of the possibility of the affair going public. Brian is devastated but agrees to present a united front with his wife.

A film revolving around the late Princess Diana (Naomi Watts, Bird Man, Mulholland Drive) and the journey she embarked upon while meeting a new love interest. Untold stories are revealed from the last two years of her life.

The Sheriff

A documentary that sheds light on a pivotal point of American culture. It centers on the 2018 election bids involving sheriff candidates from Maryland and North Carolina as they compete to be the head law enforcement officer. (2020, Documentary)


While developing interest in becoming a nun, Anna (Agata TrzebuchowskaSkwar) finds out that she is Jewish from her only relative. Playing for Keeps, Season 2, Episode 8


When Paige returns to Dan to admit the recent error of her ways, the two reunite. They agree to keep things on the down-low, eager to stay in their love bubble before the real world comes knocking. And when it does, Paige gets spooked. Worried that nothing has changed, that they still face the same problems – like Dan’s all-consuming football career. But their love is strong – and they may not be able to deny it for much longer.

Angry Inuk

Thin Ice

A Swedish suspense thriller dramatizing the burning issues of climate change, Arctic exploration and international geo-politics. Thin Ice tells the story of an inevitable conflict. The dispute over the interests buried under the arctic ice. Interest so severe, that for the sake of peace itself, the world still avoids addressing them.

Monday, April 26th

Long Day’s Journey into Night

After years of being away, Luo Hongwu returns to his hometown of Kaili. He stumbles upon new changes and old memories as he deals with the loss of his father and friend, while searching for his long-time love interest. (2018, Korean-Language Drama)
