HDHomeRun’s Premium TV Service Drops Discovery & Hallmark Channels

Back in August, HDHomeRun launched a live TV streaming service that offered 45 channels for $35 a month. This service built these channels right into your HDHomeRun devices putting your locals right next to cable networks like ESPN.

Now for over a week Discovery and Hallmark channels have not been working on HDHomeRun’s live TV streaming services. Readers have reported that suddenly a DIRECTV logo showed up and the channels went offline.

HDHomeRun has been very quiet on what is happening. HDHomeRun parent company SiliconDust has also not replied to our emails for comment.

At first, the HDHomeRun Premium TV website still listed Discovery and Hallmark channels. Now though Discovery and Hallmark’s channels have been removed from their website. This drops the total number of channels on HDHomeRun Premium TV to 37, but it does still include many popular channels not typically available on other services like The Weather Channel and CSpan.

Update: Several readers have also pointed out that TikiLive a service that uses the same backend as HDHomeRun’s Premium TV service has also lost access to Discovery and Hallmark channels.

Correction: At the time of this posting Hallmark Channel had been down over a week. Discovery Channels had only been down 6 days, not 7. Now though both Discovery and Hallmark channels have been down over a week.
