Today Warner Bros. Discovery announced for the first time since the service launched back in May of 2020 that the price will be going up.

Effective today Thursday, January 12th, 2023, HBO Max’s ad-free plan will go up from $14.99 a month to $15.99 a month. The ad-supported plan will stay at $9.99 a month if you are looking for a cheaper option.

“This price increase of one dollar will allow us to continue to invest in providing even more culture-defining programming and improving our customer experience for all users,” Warner Bros. Discovery said in a statement.

This all comes as Warner Bros. Discovery are planning to merge Discovery+ and HBO Max. Reports have leaked that the service will be called Max and be the same price as HBO Max. This price hike could be part of a plan to cover the cost of adding Discovery+ content but for now this has not been confirmed.

If you are a current HBO Max customer, your price will be going up on your next bill after Saturday, February 11th, 2023. New HBO Max customers will have to pay the higher price starting today once their 7-day free trial ends.
