Everyone wants live sports right now they are one of the few remaining TV events that people watch live, meaning they can’t skip the ads. Now Warner Bros. Discovery is also considering adding live sports to HBO Max.

Recently HBO Max started to survey subscribers with a long list of questions, including questions about live sports on HBO Max as a part of your subscription.

This idea of live TV and live sports on HBO Max is not new. When AT&T first launched the service, live TV and live sports were listed as features to be added to HBO Max.

AT&T even at one point intended to merge DIRECTV STREAM and HBO Max into a single service and app. With the change of leadership at AT&T, these plans ended, and now DIRCTV STREAM has been spun out into an independent company, and HBO Max was sold to what is now Warner Bros. Discovery.

So now here we are with Warner Bros. Discovery again considering adding live sports to HBO Max. With Turner having a huge collection of NBA and March Madness, there is content that could be added to HBO Max. It is also possible that HBO Max could strike new deals for sports content.

Recently the Pac-12 has been looking for new partners, and it has been reported that several streaming services have expressed interest. A deal with the Pac-12 would add a lot of major college sporting events for HBO Max.

For now, we will need to wait and see what happens but it seems clear that once again HBO Max is looking at live events to drive up revenue.
