Gamers got to see a brief glimpse of Grand Theft Auto VI, the next installment to one of the most successful video game franchises of all time, after Rockstar Games dropped a trailer on Monday.
The 90-second clip showed off a contemporary version of Vice City, or GTA’s version of Miami, and revealed its launch timeframe of 2025. The gameplay footage followed two protagonists, a man and woman couple a la Bonnie and Clyde.
Grand Theft Auto III revolutionized the open world action genre in video games, and Grand Theft Auto V, which was based in a parodied version of Los Angeles, is the second most popular game of all time. By the time GTA VI launches, it’ll have been 12 years since that game was released.
Players have spent the last decade in this world through GTA Online, but players are likely eager to see a brand new game.
The last time players saw this setting was in 2002, with Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, a 80s-inspired take dripping with Miami Vice vibes.
