Google Stadia Landing on Chromecast with Google TV, Shield TV, and More June 23rd

Google’s game-streaming service Stadia is finally coming to the company’s Chromecast with Google TV, alongside a selection of other Android TV devices. The app is scheduled to arrive on June 23rd, which would mean Google could make good on its promise to deliver Stadia on its latest Chromecast during the first half of 2021.

In all, several Android TV and Google TV devices will gain access to the app on June 23rd, including Nvidia’s line of Shield TV devices, as well as Walmart’s brand-new onn streamers, which broke cover a little early before officially going on sale this week. Here’s the full list of devices expected to join the Stadia supported devices list later this month:

  • Chromecast with Google TV
  • Hisense Android Smart TVs (U7G, U8G, U9G)
  • Nvidia Shield TV and Shield TV Pro
  • Onn FHD Streaming Stick and UHD Streaming Device
  • Philips 8215, 8505, and OLED 935/805 Series Android TVs
  • Xiaomi Mi Box 3 and Mi Box 4

If you’ve been waiting to try out Google’s game-streaming service, but don’t see your specific device on the list just yet, there’s still hope. The Verge reports that users of other Android TV and Google TV devices can opt into experimental support, which should enable you to install the app from the Play Store and run it on your device. However, you’ll still need a controller to get your game on — either Google’s own Stadia gamepad or a compatible Bluetooth controller should do the trick.
