Google announced today the release of Gemini 2.5, the company’s “most intelligent AI model.” Google is calling the new release an experimental version of the model that’s “capable of reasoning” which allows for more accurate and useful responses.
Here’s how Google explains the AI model’s ability to reason, in a press release.
“In the field of AI, a system’s capacity for ‘reasoning’ refers to more than just classification and prediction. It refers to its ability to analyze information, draw logical conclusions, incorporate context and nuance, and make informed decisions.”
Google says that these improved capabilities allow the model to complete more complex tasks, noting that “2.5 Pro leads in math and science benchmarks like GPQA and AIME 2025” and has improved coding performance, allowing it to complete more complex tasks like creating apps with simple prompts.
What does this mean for cord cutters? At CES in January, Google previewed how Gemini will be integrated with Google TV, allowing users to interact with their TVs in a more conversational way. The preview also showed how Gemini will allow for Google TV features like creating custom artwork, controlling smart home devices, and delivering daily news. Google began rolling out those features soon after, when they announced the launch of the News Brief feature, powered by Gemini.
