Today, Google announced the launch of Gemini for TV. Gemini is Google’s AI assistant, which helps with everything from multitasking in Google apps to summarizing text and researching documents.

The launch will expand on Google Assistant which allowed users to do things like getting recommendations and controlling smart home devices via the TV. Google says that with Gemini, users can “engage in free-flowing conversations” just by saying “Hey Google” or pressing the microphone button on the TV to engage the assistant.

For entertainment, you can use Gemini for recommendations. Let Gemini know what genres you like and get a list of recommended titles. Looking for something specific but can’t remember the title? Describe it to Gemini and let it do the work. For example, say “What’s the new hospital drama everyone’s talking about?” You’ll get recommendations for a few options, like “The Pitt.” Gemini can also summarize what happened in a previous season or give you a quick episode recap before you start watching.

Beyond watching TV and movies, you can now use Gemini on TVs to help with household tasks, give an assist on schoolwork, or learn a new skill. Use it for research, tutorials, finding recipes, and more.

Gemini is available on the TCL QM9K series starting today. Availability will expand later this year to more devices, including the Google TV Streamer, Walmart onn. 4K Pro, 2025 Hisense U7, U8, and UX models, and 2025 TCL QM7K, QM8K, and X11K models.
