Last night, Fubo lost access to the RSN Monumental Sports Network. This network offered access to the NHL Washington Capitals, NBA Wizards, and WNBA Washington Mystics games.

In a statement on its website, Fubo said:

Our mission has always been to offer a leading package of premium sports, news, and entertainment programming while balancing value and keeping your costs as low as possible.

Unfortunately, we were unable to reach terms with Monumental Sports Network to renew our content agreement.

As a result, Monumental Sports Network has left Fubo as of June 15th, 2024 at 5:00 PM ET.

Update: Monumental Sports & Entertainment sent Cord Cutters News the following statement:

“After a lengthy negotiating process, Monumental Sports Network is no longer available on Fubo. This means that D.C. sports fans who are Fubo subscribers do not have access to live games for the Mystics, Capitals, Wizards, and other local teams such as the Washington Spirit and area HBCUs, colleges, and high schools.

Throughout the process, we negotiated in good faith to keep our local independent network available to Fubo’s subscribers, including offering Fubo market-rate terms that other larger distributors have accepted. Unfortunately, Fubo did not appear motivated to come to a deal and refused several generous offers.

Moving forward, our highly-rated WNBA content, including Wednesday’s Mystics-Fever game, will no longer be available on Fubo, which is unfortunate given the unprecedented interest that women’s sports are experiencing. This outcome seems at odds with Fubo’s claim to be the leading sports-focused live TV platform and clearly signals a total lack of interest in local women’s sports at a time when the rest of the world has declared their importance. Would Fubo ever consider taking away Monumental from its fans if our NHL and NBA teams were in season?

Unlike Fubo, we remain committed to women’s sports and serving D.C. sports fans. We urge our fans to consider accessing other pay TV providers or subscribing to Monumental Sports Network directly at monumentalsportsnetwork.com.”

Fubo went on to say it will not be offering credits or refunds. Any DVR recordings will stay until they expire or you delete them. “We hope Monumental Sports will come back to the negotiating table and offer a content agreement that’s fair and market terms to Fubo and our customers,” Fubo said.

Under the FAQ about will Monumental Sports Network return Fubo said “At this time, we have no information as to when or if Monumental Network will rejoin the Fubo channel lineup.”

This comes as last April Fubo also lost the regional sports network (RSN) SNY warned subscribers that Fubo may soon drop them. Now Fubo has confirmed to Cord Cutters News that later today SNY will leave Fubo after the two sides where unable to reach a new deal.

SportsNet New York, also known as SNY, is the home SN for the MLB team, the New York Mets. SNY also offers a selection of college sports and even Major League Rugby games on its network. The network is a joint partnership between Comcast and Spectrum.
