Ahead of the upcoming National Association of Broadcasting show, Freecast announced today the launch of NextGen Streaming TV by FreeCast. The streaming app will take advantage of the expansion of ATSC 3.0 broadcast technology and 5G wireless.

Freecast’s software aggregates FAST channels and free ad-supported on demand content from across the internet and puts it all into one app. Utilizing local home hubs, servers, and antennas, Freecast can also pull in local channels. It all creates a more convenient option for viewers than streaming with individual network apps or city-based broadcast TV apps.

With ATSC 3.0 being integrated into more devices, Freecast will be able to deliver this service without relying on local servers or in-home hubs. The company says it’s a solution for broadcasters to best reach a large audience while providing a smart streaming solution for users.

“Broadcasters didn’t capitalize during cord-cutting or when all the streaming services raised prices, and ATSC 3.0-compatible  hardware has been slow to reach consumers,” said William Mobley, CEO of FreeCast. “The whole TV industry is in transition right now, and we’ve  built a solution that quickly gets broadcasters back in the game on replacing revenues. It’s a solution that works great for consumers too, because it doesn’t mean another half dozen apps to download. And  like these new technologies it leverages, it’s designed to evolve over time and keep getting better.”

We’ll look for more information about the NextGen Streaming TV app during the NAB show.
