DoorDash subscribers who enjoy the complimentary HBO Max subscription as part of their DashPass membership face a significant change in their benefits. The partnership that bundled a free HBO Max Basic with Ads plan with the annual DashPass subscription has concluded, meaning the streaming service will no longer be included for those renewing or resubscribing after their current billing cycle. For now, current subscribers can keep enjoying it until their next renewal date.
The collaboration between DoorDash and Warner Bros. launched in August 2024. It provided DashPass Annual Plan members with access to HBO Max’s extensive library of content at no extra cost beyond the $96 yearly fee for DashPass. This included popular HBO originals, blockbuster films from Warner Bros., documentaries, and series from networks like Adult Swim and DC Universe. For users preferring an ad-free experience, an upgrade option to the Standard plan was available at a reduced rate of $10.99 per month plus taxes, compared to the standard pricing at the time.
The offer proved popular among subscribers who frequently ordered food, groceries, or other items through DoorDash. DashPass already delivered value through waived delivery fees and reduced service fees on eligible orders from thousands of restaurants and retailers. Adding a streaming perk enhanced its appeal, especially as standalone Max subscriptions carried monthly costs that added up over time. Many viewed the bundle as a clever way to offset entertainment expenses while enjoying convenient delivery services.
However, the free HBO Max inclusion was time-limited. Activation for the benefit had to occur by December 16, 2025, for new or eligible subscribers. Those who activated before that deadline received access through the end of their annual DashPass billing period, which could extend into 2026 depending on their renewal date. Official support pages from both DoorDash and HBO Max confirm that upon expiration or renewal of the current DashPass Annual Plan, the HBO Max access terminates automatically. Subscribers must then resubscribe directly through HBO Max to continue streaming, either paying the full rate or exploring any current standalone promotions.
