Back in May, FOX Television Stations announced a new streaming app that will offer free access to news, weather, and local programming. The new app called FOX Local makes it easy for you to watch local news from Fox affiliates.
When FOX Local launched, it was missing support for Roku, but recently FOX Local added support for Roku. You can add FOX Local to your Roku HERE.
Right now, Fox Local is only available in Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis-St.Paul, Milwaukee, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa, and Washington DC are live on the service, but more locals will reportedly be added soon.
“FOX Local is the crucial next step in our overall streaming strategy, which is focused on providing viewers the easiest and fastest ways to watch their most trusted local news and programming,” said Jeff Zellmer, Senior Vice President of Digital Operations for Fox Television Stations said when the service launched.
Currently, the FOX Local app is available on Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku, and Android TV devices. FOX says more devices will be added soon, but you can also watch it on Foxlocal.com if your device is not supported right now. No word yet on when or if Roku will be supported.
The service will also include access to national news from LiveNow from FOX, FOX Soul, and FOX Weather at launch. This helps make FOX Local a great option for local and national news.
Not only will you find live news and live programming but also on-demand access to local and national news.
Here is how FOX describes the service:
Watch FOX LOCAL for news, top stories, local and national coverage. FOX LOCAL is your 24/7 streaming coverage across the nation. Your local FOX stations. Your local news. Your favorite cities: Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis-St.Paul, Milwaukee, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa, and Washington DC.
