FilmRise on Friday said it had secured the rights to Lunar X’s Theorist content library. The company plans to distribute Theorist’s popular YouTube channels, Game Theory, Film Theory, Food Theory, and Style Theory, to television and streaming platforms.

Max Einhorn, senior vice president of acquisitions and co-productions at FilmRise,  said acquiring Theorist’s libraries marks a significant milestone as the company strives to become one of the premier distributors of creator content and a go-to platform for digital entertainment.

The deal is part of FilmRise’s Creator Partner Program, which helps creators expand their global audiences by distributing content on TV and streaming platforms and growing their revenue streams. The program brought Rooster Teeth, Brave Wilderness, Uncle Roger, and Scuba Jake to FilmRise’s portfolio. In June, FilmRise said it plans to launch an additional 133 ad-supported channels in North America, 53 in Europe, and 6 in Latin America on platforms such as Freevee, VIZIO, Plex, Sling, and Rakuten.

Theorist’s library contains videos offering easy-to-understand scientific analysis on a range of topics, such as film and video games. Its YouTube channels have more than 40 million subscribers. Lunar X acquired the brand in December and launched Style Theory shortly after, which amassed nearly 2.5 million subscribers in its first nine months.

Film Theory explores the secrets behind popular movies and TV shows that define pop culture, exploring different theories and debates ranging from Disney classics to contemporary blockbusters. Game Theory dives into the lore behind popular video game franchises like Minecraft, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and Mario to solve hidden mysteries while educating viewers on math and science.

The Food Theory channel examines food myths, explores the dark histories behind well-known food mascots, and shares culinary hacks. Style Theory, the latest channel to launch, approaches beauty as a science, tackling topics like can a stiletto be used as a weapon and observing the evolution of Halloween costumes over the decades.

Theorist content will be distributed on all free and pay TV and ad-supported and subscription streaming services in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. The first three seasons of Film Theory and the first three seasons of Game Theory will debut in mid-December.

FilmRise is available on Roku, Samsung TV Plus, Fire TV, and LG.
