Streaming service MagellanTV has a new original docuseries premiering tomorrow. Battlefield America: The Civil War will debut on February 1 in partnership with the American Battlefield Trust and Wide Awake Films.

The six-part docuseries will explore the brutal and crucial battles that determined the outcome of the Civil War. Each episode features a different battle, including the Battles of Shiloh, Antietam, Vicksburg, Gettysburg, Chickamauga, and the multi-battle at Overland Campaign.

Battlefield America: The Civil War highlights the chain of events surrounding each of these historic Union-Confederate clashes and showcases key military leaders and soldiers. The series dives into how each event changed the course of the war and U.S. history. It features animated maps commissioned by the American Battlefield Trust, which works to preserve battlegrounds, or as they’re referred to by the organization, “outdoor classrooms.”

The series also provides aerial views of the battlefields as they look today and mixes them with superimposed Civil War-era photos. Battlefield America: The Civil War reconstructs the movements of the troops, the tactical decisions made by generals at critical moments, and the crucial role these landscapes played in the outcome of the battles.

World-renowned historians join the series on-site to provide viewers with deep insight into the soldiers’ experiences, the challenges faced by the generals, and what they considered when deciding their armies’ fates. These experts also weigh in on the importance of each conflict, both short-term and the long-lasting ripples felt across history.

MagellanTV, Wide Awake Films, and the American Battlefield Trust produce the six-part docuseries. MagellanTV is an ad-free streaming service that hosts volumes of premium documentary programs.
