Starting today Amazon is rolling out an updated screensaver to the Fire TV that will also suggest relevant movies and TV shows. This new feature will give Fire TV users recommendations about TV shows and movies from Prime Video, IMDb TV, Pluto TV, History, Hallmark, and YouTube with more services coming soon.
“When we launched Fire TV more than five years ago, we set out to make it easier for customers to find and watch the shows and movies they want. It started by designing a great customer experience with a user interface that was intuitive and prioritized content over apps. When we added the Alexa Voice Remote, customers could search and discover content with their voice, making their entertainment experience simply magical. The evolution of discovery continues today with the addition of featured content to the Fire TV screensaver, which is non-intrusive and visually compelling. The screensaver makes it easier for customers to discover great new movies, TV shows, and live events, and allows us to continue offering Fire TV at an incredible price.” An Amazon spokesperson said in a statement sent to Cord Cutters News.
If you don’t have the new screen saver yet here is an example of what it will look like:
Right now Amazon says they are rolling this feature out to a select group of Fire TV customers so they can test it out before it gets a more widespread rollout. Customers will still be able to personalize their screensaver with photos from Prime Photos if they want.
