Everything We Know About Roku’s New Remote That is Coming Soon

Last week Roku announced a new high end Pro Roku TV. They also announced a new Roku remote, but details have not been released. Roku has been careful to block the remote in all photos, but there are a few things we do know.

What exactly should we expect from this new Roku remote?

First, the overall size of the remote seems to be about the same. Also, the purple directional pad at the top is slightly visible suggesting it is mostly unchanged.

We also know that Roku was testing a new Roku remote last August that included several new buttons, such as a guide button that brought up the Roku guide with free channels and your local channels from an antenna if you had it connected.

There was also a second button on that test remote that showed a rocket on it but at the time of the test in August, that button didn’t do anything.

*Note this remote seen in the photos was for testing and the final form and buttons are subject to change.

What seems most likely is that one of the big changes to the new remote will be the new buttons.

Beyond that we will have to wait and see. It is possible Roku will be showing it off at CES. Cord Cutters News will have staff at the show to cover major cord cutting news as it happens.
