Acorn TV’s November lineup is proving to bring some real nail biters, including the launches of two new Acorn TV Original series, Dalgliesh and The Madame Blanc Mysteries, as well as the final episodes of Manhunt: The Night Stalker.

If you’re looking for something to binge right away without waiting for weekly episodes, there’s plenty of that too with the mouthwatering series A Taste of Italy and more.

Dalgliesh (Acorn TV Original) – 2 weekly episodes every Monday Episodes 1-2 of 6

In two-part mystery “Shroud for a Nightingale:” DCI Adam Dalgliesh (Bertie Carvel, Doctor Foster) is sent to a nursing school to investigate the death of Heather Pearce, a student poisoned during a demonstration. But as he uncovers the secrets that infect the school, can Dalgliesh identify the killer before they strike again? After the death of another student nurse at Nightingale House, Dalgliesh’s hunt for the murderer intensifies. Though technically off-duty, Dalgliesh wonders if there’s a connection between the deaths… After another suspicious death at Toynton Grange, a vote is held on its future. The Witnesses – Binge (Foreign Language, German)

The Witnesses is a tense, highly emotional series that explores the power of our memories – and how little we can trust them. A ten-year-old girl is kidnapped in the middle of the crowded Natural History Museum in Berlin. Nobody claims responsibility. There’s no ransom demand. The only key to her rescue seems to be buried in the memories of those who witnessed the incident. The girl’s father, a prominent politician, insists the brilliant researcher Dr Jasmin Braun (Alexandra Maria Lara) assists with the investigation. She is tasked with evaluating the memories of eight key witnesses so she can reconstruct the crime exactly as it unfolded. In two-part mystery “A Taste for Death: Two bodies are found in a London church with their throats slashed – a homeless man and an aristocratic Tory MP, who’d recently resigned after a guest drowned at his wife’s birthday party. Dalgliesh is called in to investigate. Another violent attack at the church seems to rule out Dalgliesh’s main suspect. After discovering more home truths about Sir Paul’s family, Dalgliesh is forced to draw on his own personal tragedies to disarm the killer. (2 EPS, 2021)

Episode 1: When Rory White has a fatal car accident in France, his wife, antiques dealer Jean, is devastated. Her distress grows when she learns Rory has left her nearly penniless, her one remaining asset a cottage in the town of Sainte Victoire. But when she arrives to sell the place, she discovers Rory had been having an affair and that a valuable ring is missing. Jean begins to suspect foul play.

Episode 2: Jean learns from police chief Caron that her ring has been sent away as evidence, and that there is little they can do about the threats from Rory’s mistress. Jean is furious but soon distracted when she is asked to look into an elderly woman’s mystery dating back to the Nazi occupation of France. Meanwhile, a TV producer puts the locals in a tizzy when he holds a casting call for a reality show. (2 EPS, 2021)

The Madame Blanc Mysteries (Acorn TV Original) – Weekly episodes every Monday Episode 3 of 6

Judith and Jeremy’s 80s-themed wedding anniversary party takes a gnarly turn when an attendee is discovered dead. Caron asks Jean for her expertise in identifying some of the items found at the crime scene, but what Jean ultimately uncovers goes far beyond antiques. (1 EP, 2021)

The Gulf, Series 2 – Binge

Detective Jess Savage (Kate Elliott, Wentworth) wants to leave the past behind and make the most of her tentative new relationship with daughter Ruby (Timmie Cameron, Shortland Street) – but a blackmailer is making that impossible, threatening to expose Jess’s murder of her sexual-abuser husband Alex (Bede Skinner, Spartacus). Jess tries to identify and track down her blackmailer while solving crimes on her home patch of Waiheke Island. A Taste of Italy – Binge

Host and chef Nisha Katona embarks on a quest across lesser-known regions of Italy to discover unique and mouth-watering dishes that go way beyond simple pizza and pasta. The ingredients for this series are the history and beautiful architecture of the region, the stunning landscapes, and the delicious food Nisha learns about and cooks up on the way. With access to unique and un-spoilt locations, Nisha teams up with local chefs to help us see Italian cookery in a fresh and exciting way, and inspire us to try something more adventurous and authentic. The Madame Blanc Mysteries (Acorn TV Original) – Weekly episodes every Monday Episode 4 of 6

When an elderly man is killed during a home robbery, Caron is confused to discover that, while there were many valuable pieces of art in the home, only one was taken. Meanwhile, Charlie from the pawn shop has been accused of selling forgeries—but she insists they were not fakes when she sold them. Asked for her advice on both matters, Jean starts to realize the crimes could be related. (1 EP, 2021)

When Marcus Walwyn sees Karen Scott on the train to work, he decides that she will be his. While working at a publisher’s, where Marcus works as a book editor, a particular manuscript lands on his desk that immediately catches his eye. Unknown to Marcus, the book is drafted by convicted serial killer, Helmut Kranze (James Bolam, Cold Feet), under a pseudonym. Driven crazy with obsession, Marcus becomes quickly corrupted by the book, embarking on a murderous mission not only relating to Karen Scott but also a subsequent police investigation lead by D.I.
