ESPN’s New Streaming Service Not Available to Some Disney+ Bundle Customers

Customers enjoying the Disney+ bundle through Verizon are encountering unexpected hurdles when trying to sign up for the newly launched ESPN streaming service, according to recent reports and user experiences shared online. The issue stems from restrictions that prevent Verizon-managed Disney+ bundle subscribers, particularly those receiving the bundle for free as part of their mobile or home internet plans, from seamlessly adding the new ESPN streaming service to their existing accounts. This has sparked frustration among sports fans eager to access ESPN’s latest offering, which promises enhanced live sports coverage, exclusive content, and advanced streaming features.

The Disney+ bundle, which typically includes Disney+ (With Ads or Premium), Hulu (With Ads), and ESPN+ (With Ads), is a popular perk for Verizon customers on select Unlimited plans, such as 5G Play More, 5G Get More, Unlimited Welcome, Unlimited Plus, or Unlimited Ultimate. Valued at $21.99 per month, the bundle is often provided at no extra cost or for a discounted $10 per month, saving subscribers up to $6.99 monthly compared to standalone subscriptions. However, the new ESPN streaming service, designed to offer a more comprehensive sports viewing experience, is not currently integrable with these Verizon-managed bundles, especially for those receiving the promotional “on us” offer.

According to user reports, customers attempting to subscribe to the new ESPN service through their existing Disney+ bundlethat is managed by a 3rd party like Verizon will need to make a new account. However, the new ESPN streaming service appears to operate outside this framework, with Verizon and other third-party partners currently unable to facilitate direct sign-ups.

This restriction has raised concerns among subscribers, particularly those who value the streamlined billing and access provided by the Verizon bundle. For existing Hulu subscribers, the situation is further complicated. Those billed directly by Hulu receive a credit equivalent to the retail price of Hulu (With Ads) when enrolled in the Verizon bundle, but adding the new ESPN service requires navigating additional steps, potentially forfeiting promotional pricing or credits.

The new ESPN streaming service, which includes access to live sports, exclusive events, and premium content not available through the standard ESPN+ subscription, has been marketed as a game-changer for sports enthusiasts. However, the inability to integrate it with Verizon’s Disney+ bundle has left many customers frustrated.

For now, Verizon customers eager to access the new ESPN streaming service may need to follow the workaround of creating a separate Disney account, as reported by users. Disney and ESPN have not yet announced plans to streamline integration with third-party partners like Verizon, leaving subscribers to navigate the cumbersome process independently. As the streaming landscape continues to evolve, customers are urging both companies to address these restrictions to enhance the user experience for bundled services.
