ESPN+ Price Hike Coming Aug. 23rd, Monthly Rate Jumps to $9.99

ESPN is aiming to increase prices on its streaming service, ESPN+, with monthly rates jumping from the current $6.99 up to a reported $9.99. Sports Business Journal says the price hike is expected to arrive on Aug. 23rd, adding that the move represents a roughly 43 percent increase for the sports-focused streamer.

Both the monthly and annual rates will see an increase, with the latter moving from $69.99 per year to $99.99. For now, though, the price increase won’t affect UFC pay-per-view events or The Disney Bundle, which allows customers to subscribe to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ in a package deal. Those bundles currently start at $13.99 for a package that includes the ad-supported (lower-cost) tier of Hulu, but you can opt for the ad-free version for $19.99 per month.

This is by no means the first price increase ESPN+ users have seen. In fact, the past few Augusts have seen the sports streaming up its rates, with a move to $5.99 back in August of 2020, and another jump to the current $6.99 in August of 2021. And so, the streak continues.

If you’re looking to sign up for streaming service, now might be a good time to consider an annual plan at the current rate, which would save $30 versus the incoming price.
