Family Watching TV At Night Sitting On Sofa TogetherSoon you will be able to subscribe directly to Epix without needing a live TV streaming service or Sling TV.

Epix VP and GM Monty Sarhan in a conversation with Variety said, “Direct-to-consumer is very important. We will be in that space.” He went on to say that Epix also plans to stream content in 4K through their apps.

Epix is a joint partnership between MGM, Paramount, and Lionsgate. They already have a streaming service partnering with services such as Sling TV. Now they are going to launch their own live TV streaming service.

What will this do to Hulu’s Epix deal? Currently, many of the movies on Hulu come from a deal with Epix. That deal was announced in 2015 as part of a multiyear deal to bring Epix movies to Hulu. (Before that Epix had a similar deal with Netflix.)

Will this new service mean the end of a deal with Hulu? For now we don’t know because Hulu and Epix did not disclose how long their contract was for. Epix also did not address their partnership with Hulu in the announcement to launch a streaming service.
