Drew Barrymore is adding talk show host to her list of accomplishments now that CBS officially said ‘yes’ to her pilot from August this year. According to a story by Variety, Barrymore will host the syndicated talk show set to launch in fall 2020 on CBS Television.

“It is beyond my wildest dreams to have this opportunity for a daily talk show,” Barrymore said. “I’m truly thrilled and honored to be creating this show with CBS.”

“We are very excited to be in business with Drew Barrymore and have our stations serve as the launch group for a show that is the brightest prospect I have seen in many years,” said Peter Dunn, president of CBS Television Stations. “We look forward to giving Drew and our colleagues at CBS Television Distribution our full support to help this show strike gold with our audience and advertisers.”

Barrymore’s first big acting role was at just 6 years old when she appeared on E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial and has starred in multiple movies since. She’s also merged into the world of TV producing, most recently with Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet in which she starred and executive produced until it’s recent cancellation this year.

She will also be one of the executive producers for her new talk show under CBS Television Distribution, alongside Chris Miller and Ember Truesdell.

Barrymore pitched a talk show idea with Warner Bros. in 2016 but never made it to a pilot. Now with a new need for fresh faces on daytime TV, CBS is backing her up with her very own show.

“Drew is a huge star and a breath of fresh air – her show will energize any station’s lineup,” said Steve LoCascio, chief operating and financial officer of CBS Global Distribution Group. “We’re looking forward to working with Peter Dunn and the CBS Television Stations group to launch this premium show in fall 2020.”
