A documentary about Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton is in the works at Apple TV+ the streamer has announced. The feature-length film will delve into the life and career of the 7-time F1 world champion. Hamilton is one of the greatest drivers the sport has ever since and he holds the records for the most wins (103), pole positions (103), and podium finishes (182). The documentary about the groundbreaking and trailblazing driver will feature full access to him and his team, on and off the track, and a plethora of all-star guest interviews.

Details regarding the title of the documentary remain unknown but Apple shared the following in a statement:

Hamilton has blazed an uncharted trail professionally, socially and culturally, and transformed the sport on a global scale. Coming from a working-class family, Lewis succeeded in a sport where the odds were stacked against him but where his talent shone through, allowing him to dominate the sport for over a decade. Hamilton is currently the only Black driver to race in the Formula One series. He embraced what made him different and his rise to the top of his career has made him fiercely committed to using his platform to influence positive change for future generations.

Hamilton will produce the documentary alongside Penni Thow, Box to Box Films, and One Community. Scott Budnick and Richard Plepler (Eden Productions) will serve as executive producers for the Matt Kay-directed film.

The Lewis Hamilton documentary is another sports venture for Apple TV+. The streamer is set to premiere a 4-part docuseries about Hall of Famer Magic Johnson, which is set to premiere on April 22, 2022. Meadowlark Media, a sports storytelling company, signed a first-look deal with Apple TV+ back in November, with a project focused on the Penn State scandal in the works. Recently, Apple and the MLB reached a deal to bring Friday Night Baseball doubleheaders to the platform once the season begins.
