Disney+ is expanding its original documentary library with The Beatles: Get Back, a collection of footage from the band’s film Let it Be back in 1970. The footage has been collected and compiled by director Peter Jackson and will be released as a three-part docuseries due to the quantity. The series is set to hit Disney+ over Thanksgiving weekend with each two-hour episode will be released individually over three days November 25, 26 and 27, 2021.

“As a huge Beatles fan myself, I am absolutely thrilled that Disney Plus will be the home for this extraordinary documentary series by the legendary filmmaker Peter Jackson,” said Bob Iger, Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board, The Walt Disney Company. “This phenomenal collection of never-before-seen footage offers an unprecedented look at the close camaraderie, genius songwriting, and indelible impact of one of the most iconic and culturally influential bands of all time, and we can’t wait to share ‘The Beatles: Get Back’ with fans around the world.”

The Let it Be film was a precursor to the larger-than-life band breaking up and is currently out of circulation. This new documentary that revisits that time period is said to have the full support of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison.

The film was originally set to be released on Disney+ last fall but was postponed until September 2021. Now, this new announcement confirms the documentary will be premiere over Thanksgiving in three parts.
