Disney’s latest move in the streaming service industry is a new licensing deal between Disney Entertainment and Netflix, according to Variety.
This marks a welcome return after Disney pulled much of its programming from the streaming giant once Disney+ launched in 2019. Disney wanted to shore up its own library and make the service attractive enough to lure in new subscribers. But with streamers now more willing to license content to each other, viewers get the benefit of seeing shows on different platforms.
Next year, Netflix subscribers will be able to watch 14 Disney-owned shows through a non-exclusive licensing agreement between the two entertainment titans, Variety reported.
As an example, fans of Grey’s Anatomy will soon be able to watch all 19 past seasons on Hulu and Netflix. Core brands like Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars won’t be included in the licensing deal.
This comes after Disney+ and Hulu merged last week ahead of the new streaming app’s release in March 2024.
Here’s what you’ll be able to watch on Netflix starting in 2024:
- The Wonder Years (January 1)
- This is Us (January 8)
- My Wife & Kids (February 5)
- ESPN 30 for 30 (25 episodes between February and December 2024)
- The Resident (March 4)
- White Collar (April 1)
- Reba (May 6)
- Archer (May 13)
