Multiple Disney-owned local ABC TV networks will now live stream on YouTube.
One of our readers told Cord Cutters News that multiple stations now had livestreams on the video-sharing app.
So far, we’ve independently confirmed livestreams for ABC30 in Fresno and Central California, ABC7 Los Angeles, ABC7 Bay Area, ABC13 Houston, ABC7 Chicago, ABC7 New York, and ABC11 North Carolina.
“You asked for it, you got it! See you on YouTube, friends,” ABC30’s Chief Meteorologist said in a post on Facebook.
Live streaming news on YouTube gives viewers in these areas a free and accessible way to keep up with what’s happening in their area specifically without a cable package.
If you don’t want to go through YouTube, there are still ways to watch local news broadcasts for free through websites like NewsON, Haystack News, and Local Now.
Streaming services like Tubi and the Roku Channel, which is available on Roku player and other devices, also come with free local news content.
You can also get local news access for free with a good ol’ fashioned antenna. Depending on where you buy one, the devices can be pretty affordable. Reception will vary based on where you live, but Antennaweb can show you what channels are free in your area.
ABC wasn’t immediately available for comment.
