Disney is joining Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount in shutting down its TV everywhere apps. Yesterday, Disney announced that it will be shutting down its apps for Disney, Freeform, FXNow, & National Geographic Channel. This is because we have already reported that Disney will be shutting down its ABC app.

This is a trend that will likely see other cable networks and maybe even broadcast TV networks shut down their dedicated apps to try and grow subscribers to their paid services.

Disney joins a growing number of cable TV networks that are shutting down their dedicated apps to instead focus on their subscription services like Max and Paramount+. Recently, Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery both went as far as to shut down websites for some cable networks, including MTV News and Cartoon Network. With Cartoon Network, they now promote Max, but long gone is all other information on its website.
