After gaining 10 million subscribers in just 24 hours after launching, Disney+ is not slowing down. But reports show that Disney+ is still adding an average of one million new subscribers each day.
The mobile app has been downloaded 15.5 million times according to numbers from research firm Apptopia. Beyond those signing up for free trials of the service, the data goes on to show that Disney+ has seen $5 million in in-app purchases.
“This shows the company is gonna be a legit competitor to the likes of Netflix,” Wedbush analyst Dan Ives told the New York Post. “The pricing, the content and the bundling was just a pure genius strategy from Iger and Disney.”
The Apptopia report also shows that there is high demand for the Disney bundle package which gives subscribers access to Hulu with Limited Ads, ESPN+ and Disney+ for $12.99/month. Data shows that Hulu downloads are up by about 55% while ESPN+ downloads are up over 50% within the past two weeks
Disney+ launched on November 12th. The service costs $6.99/month with a 7-day free trial. The platform includes content from the Disney Vault, Disney Channels, Pixar, National Geographic, Marvel, and Star Wars.
