The Mandalorian has become a household name thanks to Disney+. Season 2 of the Star Wars series was streamed by 1.04 million households the day it was released on Oct. 30, according to CTV measurement by Samba TV. While Season 1 was still a hit, this season saw a viewership increase of 73%.

While Disney+’s back catalog of classics and family favorites may be an appeal to some, the streamer gets its real growth from highly publicized and anticipated shows like The Mandalorian. According to analytics company Antenna, Season 2 gave Disney+ 3.1 times the average sign-ups over its release weekend compared to other weekends in October. What’s more, an estimated 29% of those were viewers who were re-subscribing, most likely those who had canceled their membership after the first season of The Mandalorian and signed up again just to stream Season 2.

The Star Wars series’ weekend release also boosted Disney+ mobile app downloads. Mobile analytics company App Annie reports mobile app downloads increased 55% over the weekend that Season 2 was released.

The Mandalorian is probably Disney+’s most successful show to date. As of last week, the series was 91 times more in-demand than the average series according to Parrot Analytics.
