The tough time for TV companies is continuing as DISH today announced that it has lost 268,000 subscribers in the 4th quarter of 2022. This works out to be about 2,913 subscribers canceling their accounts every day.
As inflation grows, more Americans have been turning to cord cutting to help cut their TV costs. Increasingly this means ditching all forms of live TV in favor of on-demand services like Paramount+ and Disney+, to name a few. If you are not a sports fan leaving behind live TV for on-demand services is becoming very tempting.
Right now, DISH reports it has about 7.4 million satellite subscribers and 2.3 million Sling TV subscribers, totaling about 9.7 million subscribers. This is down from the 13.897 million subscribers DISH had in total at the end of 2015.
DISH is just one of the first to report in what many expect to be a very rough 4th quarter for Paty TV companies like Comcast, DIRECTV, Charter, and more. The recent high inflation numbers are forcing many who held on to their Cable TV bill to finally consider giving it up as they look at the cost of eggs at the store.
