Dish Lost 133,000 Pay TV Subscribers in Q4, Sling TV Reaches 2.47 Million Subscribers

In today’s quarterly earnings results, Dish reported a loss of 133,000 pay TV subscribers, ending the quarter with a total of 11.29 million pay TV customers. Of those, 8.82 million came from Dish and 2.47 million came from Sling TV.

With Sling’s current subscriber count at 2.47 million, up from 2.46 million reported in the previous quarter, Sling is holding its spot at the third most popular live TV streaming service after Hulu and YouTube TV.

Earlier this year, Sling TV raised its price by $5 for new customers, making Sling Orange and Sling Blue each $35/month and the combination of Sling Orange and Sling Blue $50/month. With the price increase, Sling boosted the included Cloud DVR to 50 hours with the option to upgrade to 200 hours for an additional fee.

Those who were signed up for the service before August 1, 2020 still have their monthly price locked in thanks to Sling’s 1 Year Price Guarantee.

Dish’s earnings call will take place at noon today.
