DIRECTV and Glance AI announced a new partnership today, that will bring AI-generated interactive screensavers to DIRECTV streaming customers.
Rather than a standard screensaver when content idles, DIRECTV will use that downtime as a sales opportunity. Glance AI uses on-device AI developed in collaboration with Google, to create screensavers that provide entertainment, shopping, and creative experiences for users.
“With Glance AI, TV screensavers become a smart content discovery, personalization, and AI-commerce experience”, said Vikash Sharma, SVP, Product Marketing at DIRECTV. “DIRECTV audiences who stream TV through our Gemini devices will now get the opportunity to reimagine their interactions with their TV screen, with personalized content, entertainment, news, and shopping recommendations in real time.”
Along with ads, the screensavers will show interactive scenes across lifestyle, travel, health, auto, seasonal events, and local trends. Some screensavers will also allow users to stay up to date in real-time with live weather and sports scores tailored to their interests.

The AI-powered screensavers will roll out to DIRECTV Gemini devices in early 2026.
