This week, DIRECTV STREAM is launching the first of many participating PBS Stations on the platform, making it the only service besides YouTube TV to offer the Live channel. The launch on DIRECTV STREAM includes Washington D.C., Minneapolis, Sioux Falls, Miami, West Palm Beach, Denver, Colorado Springs, Cleveland, and Sacramento, with more local PBS stations set to be added in the coming months, with a full launch completed in 2022

DIRECTV STREAM will offer PBS member stations’ full broadcast channels streamed live, as well as the PBS free video-on-demand library that complements the live broadcasts. This new addition of PBS Stations comes after DIRECTV STREAM launched PBS Kids at the end of last year.

“Entertainment is personal and should serve every member of the household, which is why we’re partnering with PBS to deliver DIRECTV STREAM customers more choice, more control and a more convenient way to access the content they care about most,” said Rob Thun, Chief Content Officer for DIRECTV when the announcement about adding the channels was made.

With PBS, subscribers can watch both award winning content and locally produced shows including Masterpiece, Antiques Roadshow, Frontline, PBS Newshour, and more. And, with PBS Kids, kids can watch educational and entertaining shows like Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Odd Squad, and Wild Kratt’s.
