Yesterday Apple announced during its WWDC 2017 keynote that its first developer beta of iOS 11 is now available. Just remember this is a developer beta. iOS 11 beta 1 is intended for use by iOS developers only and you will find several cord cutting apps like DIRECTV NOW will not work with it.

Cord Cutters News has heard from several readers that the new DIRECTV NOW app is not working with the iOS 11 beta. It seems DIRECTV NOW will not work on Apple TV, iPhones, or iPads running the iOS 11 beta software.

The new beta has a few new features for the apple TV. A light/dark mode you can pick from. You can now sync your home screen across multiple Apple TVs. There are also numerous back end changes.

If you do want to test the new iOS 11 beta if you have an Apple developer account, simply go the the developer website on your iPhone or iPad and you’ll be able to install Apple’s new beta configuration profile. Then iOS 11 beta 1 will show up under Settings > General > Software Update as an over the air (OTA) download. Alternatively, you can visit the same link on your computer and download iOS 11 beta 1 to install through iTunes.

Just remember the DIRECTV NOW app will not work with the iOS 11 beta.
