DIRECTV NOW has been without ESPN3 support for almost two months. Every week since the outage started we have received messages asking about ESPN3 not working on DIRECTV NOW.
Today we thought it would be a good idea to post in reply to all the messages or comments we get that yes ESPN3 is down and as best we can tell there is some type of contract issue with ESPN and Disney.
Is there any hope of ESPN3 coming back to DIRECTV NOW?
It is looking less and less likely. Both AT&T and Disney have declined to comment on the outage. The complete lack of comment gives support to the rumors of a possible contract issue between AT&T and Disney. If it was a simple technical issue you would expect the companies to publicly comment that they are working to fix the issue.
Are there any other options to get ESPN3?
It is still possible to have DIRECTV NOW and still get ESPN3. Some internet providers include ESPN3 support with your home internet subscription. So, you may automatically be getting ESPN3 from your internet provider. If your internet provider supports ESPN3 it will just work with no need to login. This is a great workaround for some DIRECTV NOW subscribers but not all.
Sadly, after almost two months of no ESPN3 support, it looks like ESPN3 won’t be returning to DIRECTV NOW anytime soon.
