Worried couple reading a letter sitting on a couch in the living room at homeToday AT&T officially replaced their current packages with two new ones and raised DIRECTV NOW’s price by $10 a month. The new packages are called DIRECTV NOW Plus with 40+ channels for $50 a month and DIRECTV NOW MAX with 50+ channels for $70 a month. DIRECTV NOW has also added HBO to the Plus and MAX packages as a standard channel. These two new packages will go on sale starting tomorrow March 13th, 2019.

“We know you love HBO—and NOW you won’t miss a moment when you stream with DIRECTV NOW! Tomorrow we’re debuting two new AT&T* video packages that include premium access to HBO. With HBO, customers can now enjoy every episode of the best shows like Game of Thrones, Veep and Big Little Lies, plus blockbuster movies, family favorites, documentaries and more – live, streaming and on demand.” AT&T said on their site.

DIRECTV NOW said, when they officially launch the new packages, more details will be made available at that time. “Existing DIRECTV NOW customers can continue to enjoy their current lineup of channels, if they prefer. At launch, more details on DIRECTV NOW PLUS and MAX and other video entertainment choices we offer will be available.” So, for now, we will have to wait and see what AT&T does tomorrow with current subscribers and the new packages.

These changes are very in line with what AT&T already announced for DIRECTV NOW. Last year AT&T’s CEO said they plan to thin out the number of channels and raise the price of DIRECTV NOW to the $50-$60 range.

Here is what our sources say the new packages will look like:

DIRECTV NOW Plus:

  • 40+ channels
  • ESPN, CNN, Fox News, Disney Jr., TNT, Hallmark Chanel, and Bravo to name a few.
  • HBO, HBO Family, and HBO Latino

DIRECTV NOW Max:

  • 50+ channels
  • Everything Plus has and more
  • CBS Sports Network, ESPNews, ESPNU, Fox Sports 2, Golf Channel, and Olympic channels
  • DIRECTV NOW Plus will include regional sports channels
  • Cinemax
