Cord cutters have been asking for 5.1 audio on a live TV streaming service. DIRECTV NOW one of the first live TV streaming service to answer this request. Now DIRECTV NOW has started to roll out support to more channels. According to reports DIRECTV NOW now offers 5.1 audio on all channels that support Dolby Digital Audio or DTS.

If you have a sound system that supports Dolby Digital Audio or DTS you should now be able to take advantage of the new higher quality audio. We have known for some time this was coming because AT&T said they are working on it and it even popped up in beta tests in November 2017. Now it is important to remember not all programs offer Dolby Digital Audio. Only programs that are recorded in Dolby Digital Audio will offer Dolby Digital Audio.

Have you noticed any channels with Dolby Digital Audio or DTS support? Leave us a comment and let us know. Cord Cutters News has reached out to AT&T for comment and will update this story as we learn more.
