DIRECTV is making a splash in the free ad-supported television (FAST) market with the addition of eight new channels to its lineup ahead of its launch of a brand-new streaming service, MyFree DIRECTV.
Starting today, DIRECTV customers can enjoy a diverse range of new programming with the addition of Declassified, Great American Adventures, Oz TV, Pickleball TV, Pureflix, Surfer TV, t2, and Total Crime. These channels cater to a variety of interests, from history buffs to sports enthusiasts and crime drama fans.
This expansion comes just ahead of the highly anticipated launch of MyFree DIRECTV, a nationwide FAST platform set to debut on November 15th. Accessible online, on mobile devices, and select smart TVs, MyFree DIRECTV will offer a curated selection of free content, including popular shows, movies, sports, news, and lifestyle programming.
The service will integrate with DIRECTV’s Your TV feature, providing a personalized experience that prioritizes viewers’ favorite and most-watched content. This customized approach aims to streamline content discovery and offer a more engaging viewing experience.
“DIRECTV envisions a brighter TV future that offers consumers quality content with more choice and more control at the right value. The launch of MyFree DIRECTV will do just that,” said Amy Leifer, chief advertising sales officer at DIRECTV Advertising.
MyFree DIRECTV will be led by industry veteran Kent Rees, who brings 20 years of experience and recently oversaw the expansion of Sling Freestream. “Kent is an experienced leader who knows the ins and outs of the FAST market and will be an integral part of the leadership team dedicated to creating a unique consumer experience,” said Vikash Sharma, Head of Product at DIRECTV.
With cord-cutting on the rise and consumers increasingly seeking free content options, MyFree DIRECTV positions DIRECTV as a competitive player in the evolving media landscape. The platform offers a compelling alternative for viewers seeking a cost-effective, high-quality streaming experience.
For those looking to explore beyond the free offerings, MyFree DIRECTV also serves as a gateway to DIRECTV STREAM, with a free 5-day trial available.
The launch of MyFree DIRECTV and the addition of new channels demonstrate DIRECTV’s commitment to providing diverse and accessible entertainment options for viewers. This strategic move allows DIRECTV to cater to a broader audience while adapting to the changing dynamics of the television industry.
