Yesterday, Showtime was rebranded as the Paramount+ with Showtime network. This newly renamed network will offer the same programs as the old but also include many new shows from Paramount+.

Now, DIRECTV has announced that any customers who pay for Paramoutn+ with Showtime will soon get free access to the Paramount+ app and all the content there. This offer applies to all DIRECTV customers, including DIRECTV satellite, DIRECTV STREAM, and U-verse customers.

In a statement on its website, DIRECTV said:

Paramount+ with SHOWTIME through DIRECTV includes access to the linear Paramount+ with SHOWTIME channel, 10 SHOWTIME multi-plex channels including TMC and Flix,  Paramount+ with SHOWTIME On Demand. Coming soon you can start streaming with the Paramount+ app with your DIRECTV login credentials.

Paramount+ is a streaming app available as part of a DIRECTV Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscription at no additional charge. A subscription to Paramount+ is also available through the Paramount+ website or Paramount+.

This comes as last fall, Paramount announced deals to bring Paramount+ to cable TV customers. No details had been announced, but it was said that this deal would not result in cable TV companies dropping Paramount-owned networks like Disney did with Spectrum.

Paramount+

The new rebranded network will continue to air SHOWTIME Original series, including A GENTLEMAN IN MOSCOW, the George Clooney executive-produced THE DEPARTMENT and THE WOMAN IN THE WALL as well as the award-winning and culture-shifting SHOWTIME hits FELLOW TRAVELERS, THE CHI, THE CURSE, YELLOWJACKETS and YOUR HONOR, among others. Now though, you will also find Paramount+ programming airing on the network when the rebrand happens, including HALO (S1), Taylor Sheridan’s MAYOR OF KINGSTOWN (S1-2), STAR TREK: DISCOVERY (S1-4), WOLF PACK (S1) and more.

There is no word yet if other deals with other cable TV companies will give their customers free access to Paramount+ if they pay for the newly rebranded Showtime channel.

DIRECTV and Paramount were not available for comment at the time of this posting.
