Disney is once again locking horns with a major TV provider, this time targeting DIRECTV customers. With the kickoff of the college football season and Monday Night Football looming, DIRECTV is now giving its customers a deal with Fubo and Sling TV to help them not miss out ont he games.

The dispute centers around carriage fees, with Disney demanding higher rates to carry its suite of channels, including ESPN, ESPN2, and the Disney Channel. This tactic has become a familiar pattern, disrupting viewing experiences for millions in recent years.

Starting Saturday, September 7th, subscribers can choose between a 7-day free trial of FuboTV (with a $30 discount on the first month) or Sling Orange service, both providing access to Disney’s channels. In addition, DIRECTV will issue a $30 credit to offset the cost. With that Sling TV will now be just a $10 a month cost for the first month.

Details about these alternatives and how to claim the credit will be available at TVPromise.com. While DIRECTV works to resolve the dispute with Disney, these measures offer a temporary lifeline for sports fans and families alike.

This latest blackout underscores the ongoing tension between content providers and distributors, leaving consumers caught in the crossfire. As negotiations continue, the question remains: will viewers once again be forced to switch providers or miss out on their favorite shows and games?
