Multiview has become one of the most requested options for a streaming service. Now DIRECTV has expanded its streaming platform with the launch of seven new multiview Mix Channels, allowing customers to watch up to four live television channels simultaneously on a single screen. The feature, which marks the full arrival of the company’s long-running multi-channel viewing technology to its over-the-top service, is designed to appeal to sports enthusiasts tracking several games at once, news followers who want constant updates, and households where family members prefer different programming.

Viewers can switch audio between any of the four feeds or instantly expand one channel to full-screen with a single button press. The new multiview channels join an existing lineup that already includes several popular combinations. Among the current offerings are a general Sports Mix featuring ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, and NBC Sports Now; a League Sports Mix carrying MLB Network, NBA TV, NFL Network, and NHL Network; a News Mix combining CNN, Fox News Channel, Fox Weather, and MSNBC; and a Kids Mix that bundles Disney Channel, Disney Jr., Disney XD, and Nickelodeon.

Additional options include a Business Mix package, a Locals Mix that displays ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC in participating markets, and a dedicated Sunday Sports Mix built around live games on CBS, FOX, ESPN, and FS1. Customers can keep all four feeds visible at once or select any individual channel for full-screen viewing according to a report from Variety.

Most of the multiview channels are included across DIRECTV’s full range of streaming packages, though some are limited to specific Genre Packs. Availability depends on the channels already contained in a subscriber’s selected package, and the multiview experience is restricted to television screens rather than mobile devices or computers.

The company first pioneered multi-channel viewing in 2008 when it introduced Mix Channels to satellite television customers. More than fifteen years later, the same capability has now been fully adapted for internet-delivered streaming, eliminating the need for a satellite dish or traditional cable box. The updated streaming version introduces curated genre-based layouts along with the new local-channel combinations.

With the addition of the seven new Mix Channels, DIRECTV continues to push its streaming platform as a flexible alternative for cord-cutters and traditional pay-TV households alike. The multiview feature gives users greater control over how they consume live television, particularly during high-demand periods such as major sports weekends or breaking news cycles, without requiring multiple televisions or constant channel surfing. The rollout underscores DIRECTV’s ongoing effort to bring established satellite-era innovations into the streaming age while maintaining the breadth of live programming that has long been central to its service.
