DIRECTV launched the Heroes & Icons channel nationwide to its satellite customers on December 28 through a collaboration with Weigel Broadcasting Co., expanding the channel’s reach to millions of potential new viewers.

The agreement offers Weigel Broadcasting a new venue to grow its national network of local stations. Heroes & Icons is available in high definition on DIRECTV channel 385. Viewers can continue to watch the channel on U-verse channels 1137 in high definition and 137 in standard definition, and DIRECTV STREAM channel 385.

This deal brings another Weigel Broadcasting Co. channel to the DIRECTV lineup, which added MeTV in July.

“We appreciate the growing partnership we have with DIRECTV that allows for our national networks, MeTV and Heroes & Icons, which are established viewer favorites, to be carried on their satellite and streaming platforms,” said Neal Sabin, vice-chairman of Weigel Broadcasting Co.

While Heroes & Icons finds a fresh audience through this partnership, DIRECTV continues to face blackouts from multiple broadcasters. Nexstar-owned Mission Broadcasting and White Knight Broadcasting, as well as TEGNA. The companies have blocked transmissions from DIRECTV on their stations, which prompted the company to file a federal anti-trust lawsuit for “collusion,” DIRECTV told Cord Cutters News in a statement earlier today.

The company also filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission, which is still pending.

Heroes & Icons features heroic characters and iconic series around the clock, such as Nash Bridges, MacGyver, Hawaii Five-O, The A-Team, Lethal Weapon, and Walker, Texas Ranger. The channel hosts a different TV series on weekdays during the Heroes & Icons Day Shift. Sunday through Friday nights, audiences can catch All Star Trek Night, featuring each original live-action Star Trek series.

In addition to DIRECTV services, the network is also available on Frndly TV and Philo. Visit Heroes & Icons to find where to watch in your area.
