MLS turned 30 this season and is in the second year of a 10-year, $2.5 billion deal with Apple TV. FOX Sports also holds TV rights for the league, and some of MLS’s top executives are reportedly pushing for a return to traditional TV, citing that the exclusive streaming partnership is stunting the league’s growth. By offering fans a free month of Apple TV and using the following of international soccer superstar Lionel Messi to promote the deal, this offer could bring millions of fans to the platform and increase the league’s viewership.
