Amazon Prime Video and Crunchyroll, the go-to place for all things anime, have partnered to offer Prime members two memberships to access ad-free streaming.
Crunchyroll hosts an extensive anime library with 24,000 hours of content spanning 46,000 episodes and more than 1,3000 films and series, including the fantasy adventure Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, the swashbuckling epic One Piece, the action-packed hit JUJUTSU KAISEN, and a fall season with more than 50 new titles.
The subscription is now available in the U.S. and will launch in Canada, Sweden, and the U.K. this week, with more territories added throughout 2024. Members can stream thousands of hours of Crunchyroll content through Prime Video Channels as Amazon works towards becoming a one-stop app for entertainment through its own content library and adding third-party channels through Prime Video Channels.
Prime members can add a Crunchyroll subscription for $7.99 a month or become a Mega Fan for $9.99. While those rates are the same as if you went to Crunchyroll itself, going through Prime means it’s integrated into one place.
“Crunchyroll offers an anime adventure for every kind of fan,” said Terry Li, executive vice president of emerging business at Crunchyroll. “From sports to romantic comedy, horror, and action to slice-of-life, even the anime-curious can get immersed in our library. We look forward to welcoming new fans into the anime community through our launch on Prime Video Channels.
Both memberships grant users access to the entire Crunchyroll library without ads. New episodes with subtitles drop shortly after debuting in Japan. Mega Fans can download content to watch offline and will soon have access to “non-video benefits.”
“Prime Video already offers an unparalleled collection of premium entertainment, including third-party channels, so customers can enjoy their favorite movies and series directly on Prime Video,” said Matt Cohen, head of content acquisition and partnerships of Prime Video Channels. “With the addition of Crunchyroll to Prime Video Channels, Prime members can now easily stream anime content on Prime Video.”
To add Crunchyroll to your account, sign up through Amazon Prime Video. You’ll see the channel added to your subscription selections in the app.
