Cutting the cable connection to coax connector illustrating retired people cancelling cable TV service

Cutting the cable connection to coax connector illustrating retired people cancelling cable TV serviceCord cutting is growing faster than ever as more and more people find out about it. From Sling TV to FandangoNow, new services are making cord cutting easier than ever!

According to The Wall Street Journal in 2015, cord cutting successfully hit 20.8 million households and has not slowed down.

“This year, the number of digital video services expanded at a faster pace than ever before,” said eMarketer’s Senior Analyst Paul Verna in a statement. “In addition to standalone offerings from the likes of HBO, there are new digital bundles that include many of the channels consumers could only have received with cable and satellite subscriptions in the past. This widespread availability of digital content makes cord-cutting a viable option for a growing segment of the viewing population.”

The growth of cord cutting is important for all cord cutters, because with growth comes new options. The slow decline of ESPN is a great example of this. If ESPN was not losing more than 10,000 subscribers every day, you would likely not see ESPN on services such as Sling TV and PlaySation Vue.

Cord Cutting has a long way to go as over 90 million people still subscribe to cable and satellite TV, but the growth is steady and only speeding up.
