“Cable TV subscriber counts are on a steep decline as customers move to streaming video. Cable TV is a courtesy we have provided only to certain customers in select areas, while customers in all parts of our service area rely heavily on us for Internet and telephone services. Cable TV makes up only about 10 percent of the Cooperative’s active customer connections today. Traditional cable television services are no longer a sustainable option for small communities.”

Amazon’s New Internet Service Will Make Cord Cutting 2.0 Easier, Putting Pressure on Comcast & Spectrum

Last week, Amazon launched the first satellites for its new internet service that will bring more options to cord cutters. This will help make cord cutting 2.0 easier as it will bring options to many Americans we are left with just Starlink as an option right now.

Local ABC, CBS, FOX, & NBC Owners Demand The FCC Reclassify YouTube TV, Fubo, DIRECTV STREAM, & More As Cable TV Companies

Earlier this year, Local TV station owners formed a new Coalition for Local News to push the FCC to force cord cutting services to be treated like cable TV companies. If the FCC agrees to change the rules, it would force YouTube TV, Hulu, Fubo, and more to strike deals directly with the owners of local TV station owners instead of the big networks.

Over 30 Cable TV Channels Could Shut Down Soon, Including TCM, Disney Jr. SyFy, BBC America, & More

When Charter Communications Spectrum struck a deal with Disney to end the 12-day cable blackout and bring back channels like ESPN and FX to the cable provider’s lineup, a few of Disney-owned networks were left out. Now it is being reported that 30 cable networks could shut down.

Bally Sports RSNs Are Reportedly Preparing For Bankruptcy

The company called Diamond Sports Group LLC, which runs Sincalirs sports channels, is reportedly $8.6 billion in debt. Sinclair is hoping to strike a deal to help them keep the channels operating thanks to bankruptcy.

Comcast Is Starting to Encrypt Its Free Over The ATSC 3.0 TV Stations Meaning Many Cord Cutters Can’t Watch Free Local TV Anymore Without Upgrade

One of the features of ATSC 3.0 Nextgen TV is the ability to add content protection. This encryption prevents recording or even viewing of the stations unless you have a device with the right device. Sadly for most cord cutters there are only a couple of these devices on the market that do support this encryption, and most ATSC 3.0 tuners right now do not support it right now.
