It’s hard to believe that it’s been 4 years ago this weekend since I registered CordCuttersNews.com and wrote my very first post. What is even harder to believe is the fact that we now measure the monthly visits in the millions.
The History of Cord Cutters News
Why did I start Cord Cutters News, LLC? When my family cut the cord I hunted around for sites to learn about cord cutting. I was sad to see that there was no real good ways to get cord cutting-related news and information.
What I did find was a lot of negative coverage of cord cutting. So I decided to create a site to help give a real look at cord cutting and help people become cord cutters.
There must have been a need for it, because the very next week over 60,000 people visited Cord Cutters News in a single day. From there it was slow growth, and in January 2015 I quit my job and started working on Cord Cutters News full time.

Although the hours are long and I have not taken a day off in 2 years, the rewards have been great. Nothing is better than hearing how Cord Cutters News is helping someone save money and find the content they want. Emails like that make the 10 hour days and the late nights and early mornings worth it.
I want to take a moment and say thank you to everyone who supports Cord Cutters News. You make this happen even if it is just as simple as reading our stories without using an ad blocker. I would also like to say a special thank you to everyone who donates $1 a month through our Patreon and everyone who buys something from our Amazon links.
As ad blockers grow it’s harder for sites like CCN to keep growing. Doing something small like not using an ad blocker or donating $1 really go a long way to supporting Cord Cutters News.
What’s Next?
While news about cord cutting will still be the main focus for Cord Cutters News, I also want to grow our efforts to help more people become cord cutters. For example, we released a fully updated Cord Cutting 101 Guide this week. So keep an eye out for some new additions to the site to help more people break free of cable TV fees.
Next I want to grow a few things including making our weekly Wednesday Q&A shows even better and offering an audio version of the show.
After that I want to start posting more deals on Cord Cutters News. Recently I have been posting them just on our social media; however, that means people not following us on social media miss the deals.
Remember these are things we plan to work on, not things that will happen tomorrow.
