You may have seen a lot of talk about how cable TV is cheaper so today, we
are going to compare a real Comcast Xfinity TV bill to the cost of YouTube TV. Let’s go head to head and see which option really is cheaper, cable TV or Cord Cutting.

First, a special thanks to all of the Cord Cutters News readers who sent in
their cable TV bills to help make this story a reality.

The cost of Xfinity TV:

In this post, we will be looking at the Xfinity Preferred XF bundle with phone and internet. This package is not Xfinity’s most expensive but is a good comparison to YouTube TV.

Thanks to a reader’s copy of their bills, we know that this Xfinity TV with DVR service and 2 TV boxes cost $288.79 a month. That includes a $10 DVR fee, $9.95 HD Technology Fee, $17 box and remote fee, service to two other TVs $17, a Broadcast TV fee $21, Regional Sports fee $11.85. Plus, additional taxes and fees that add up to over $20 a month, like a franchise fee, regulatory cost recovery, 911 fee, and more.

The total cost of the Xfinity TV bundle is $288.79 a month.

The cost of YouTube TV:

The cost of YouTube TV right now is $64.99 a month to get access to 85+ live TV channels. There are no device fees or other hidden fees. T-Mobile home internet is $50 a month.

The total cost of YouTube Live TV and internet is $114.99. (Plus sales tax depending on where you live.)

Total Savings of YouTube TV vs Cable TV:

In total, going with YouTube TV over Xfinity will save you about $173.80 a month. (Plus all the fees and taxes that you pay for Xfinity but not YouTube TV.) Over the course of a year, YouTube TV will save you $1,379.88 a year even before we look at fees etc.

Final Thoughts:

Yes, like everything right now, the cost of streaming services is going up, but so is the cost of cable TV. No matter how you look at it, cord cutting is still cheaper than cable TV.
