Comcast today announced an ambitious expansion plan that will bring high-speed, symmetrical internet to more than 50,000 homes and businesses in the Hagerstown, Maryland area, marking a significant leap forward in bridging the digital divide for this region. The initiative promises to deliver Xfinity and Comcast Business services—offering internet, mobile, entertainment, and security solutions—to residents and businesses for the first time across the city and its surrounding communities.

The comprehensive rollout will encompass the City of Hagerstown and extend to nearby areas including Cavetown, Fairplay, Funkstown, Smithsburg, Tilghmanton, and Williamsport. This expansion introduces Comcast’s cutting-edge network infrastructure, designed to provide reliable, fast, and secure connectivity that meets the growing demands of modern households and enterprises.

Hagerstown Mayor William “Bill” McIntire hailed the project as a transformative development for the region. “Fast, reliable Internet is critical to our region’s ability to attract businesses and meet residents’ ever-expanding technological needs,” McIntire said in a statement. “We are thrilled to have a new provider offering advanced connectivity solutions and applaud Comcast for this significant investment.”

Ray Roundtree, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Beltway Region, echoed the enthusiasm, emphasizing the company’s commitment to enhancing community access. “We’re proud to expand our reliable, secure, and peak-performance network to more than 50,000 homes and businesses across the Hagerstown area—bringing choice for high-speed Internet, business solutions, entertainment, and more,” Roundtree said. He added that a dedicated team of local experts is already on the ground, working to ensure a seamless rollout.

The expansion is already underway, with thousands of addresses in the Hagerstown area gaining immediate access to Xfinity and Comcast Business services. Additional connections will be phased in over time, and residents can check construction timelines and service availability by visiting Xfinity.com/mytown and entering their address.

Beyond infrastructure, Comcast is reinforcing its commitment to the Hagerstown community through initiatives aimed at fostering economic mobility and digital equity. The company highlighted its Internet Essentials program, which provides low-cost, high-speed internet and affordable computers to eligible households, ensuring that connectivity is within reach for all. Additionally, Comcast announced a $40,000 donation split between Horizon Goodwill Industries and the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County. These local nonprofits will use the funds to bolster digital skills training, career development programs, and internet adoption efforts, further amplifying the expansion’s impact.

For Hagerstown, this development signals more than just better internet—it’s a gateway to economic growth and opportunity. As businesses gain access to robust Comcast Business solutions and residents tap into Xfinity’s entertainment and mobile offerings, the region is poised to thrive in an increasingly connected world. Comcast’s investment underscores a broader mission to not only build networks but also uplift the communities they serve, setting a precedent for how private enterprise can drive public good.
