Comcast’s Xfinity TV service is set to remove FanDuel Sports Regional Sports Networks (RSNs), including FanDuel Sports Southwest, from some of its TV packages in select markets, effective June 10, 2025. The change, detailed in a notice sent to customers this week, marks a significant shift for sports fans who rely on Xfinity to watch local MLB, NBA, and NHL games, and it reflects ongoing adjustments in the cable provider’s approach to regional sports programming.

Update: Cord Cutters News has confirmed that Comcast will remove FanDuel Sports Southwest RSN from its lineup on June 10 but keep all other FanDuel RSNs in its lineup. This comes as FanDuel Sports Southwest has lost most of its sports that it once offered. Here is the original story:

According to the notice from Comcast, FanDuel Sports Southwest—currently airing games for teams will no longer be available in certain lower-tier Xfinity packages, such as the Popular TV plan, in affected markets. While Comcast has not publicly specified which other FanDuel Sports RSNs or markets could be impacted, the move aligns with a broader trend of the company shifting RSNs to higher-tier packages like Ultimate TV. This follows similar adjustments in recent years, including the relocation of NBC Sports Bay Area, NBC Sports California, and other RSNs to more expensive plans in markets like Boston, Seattle, and Pittsburgh.

The decision comes after Comcast and Diamond Sports Group, the parent company of FanDuel Sports Network (recently rebranded as Main Street Sports Group following its emergence from bankruptcy in January 2025), reached a new carriage agreement in July 2024. That deal restored FanDuel Sports channels after a months-long blackout but moved them to the Ultimate TV tier in many regions, requiring subscribers to pay an additional $20 per month for access. The June 10 change appears to further refine this strategy, potentially phasing out RSNs from select packages entirely in certain areas rather than offering them universally across all plans.

For sports fans, the change could disrupt viewing habits, particularly in select markets where FanDuel Sports Southwest is a key source of local sports coverage. The move also raises questions about the future of RSNs on Comcast, as the company continues to balance rising carriage costs with cord-cutting trends and competition from streaming services like FanDuel Sports Network’s own app and Prime Video, which added FanDuel RSNs as an add-on in November 2024.

Affected customers have until June 10 to decide whether to upgrade their packages or explore alternatives. Comcast has hinted at forthcoming details on which markets and packages will be impacted beyond FanDuel Sports Southwest, with more information expected closer to the effective date. For now, the shift underscores the ongoing evolution of sports broadcasting, as traditional cable providers like Comcast adapt to a landscape increasingly dominated by streaming and direct-to-consumer options.

FanDuel Sports Network Southwest is available direct-to-consumer, and you can add it to your Prime Video subscription or save $5 on the first month by subscribing via Fubo. The NBA is attempting to secure a national streaming deal for its RSN.
