Comcast is Quietly Upgrading Internet Upload Speeds For Some Customers

Some Comcast customers are getting a speed boost as the cable giant continues to big network upgrade project.

The company confirmed that customers on Gigabit Extra and Gig x2 plans will see their upload speeds double to 200 Mbps from 100 Mbps. Some homes have already gotten the upgrades, but they’re slowing being rolled out now. A Comcast spokesman said the upgrades are now rolling out in 60 markets. The larger project to upgrade the network to multi-gig speeds is expected to wrap up by the end of 2025.

The spokesman noted that customers will need to have one of the latest Xfinity gateways or a customer-owned device that is certified to work with the Comcast network. This Reddit thread shows the eligible devices, which include:

The upgrades come as Comcast reported its third-quarter results, which saw the company losing 490,000 TV customers and 18,000 internet customers.
